In May of this year I had the opportunity to participate in an acclaimed international art exhibition in North Germany called NordArt. I was also invited to join the symposium artists 3 weeks before the opening of the NordArt exhibition and created two life-sized cut-out artworks while there.
Those three weeks were an incredibly inspiring time which influenced my new work in a significant way. Most of the work which forms part of IMPACT has been created as a direct response to NordArt and the work I encountered there. Here is what I have done: in each work I have chosen to include either a self-portrait or one of the 7 figures represented in my 7 artworks exhibited at NordArt; and these figures relate in some way to an aspect of another artwork that was on exhibition at NordArt.
